Local foundation donates sanitary towels in Ga-Rankuwa
The Faith and Hope Foundation donated sanitary towels to four schools in Ga-Rankuwa in memory of Nelson Mandela.
A Ga-Rankuwa NGO donated sanitary towels to four schools in Ga-Rankuwa last Wednesday as part of its 67 minutes for Mandela.
Faith and Hope Foundation chairperson Faith Sebeko said the foundation donated sanitary towels to 18 Ga-Rankuwa schools.
She said her foundation had donated towels to 40 learners per school at Tokyo Sexwale Primary School, Lowe Primary School, Modiri High School and Mapenane Secondary School.
“We will donate to the other schools until the end of July,” said Sebeko.
Female learners stood in line with smiles and gratitude to collect their sanitary pads.
Tokyo Sexwale deputy principal Lindi Pelo said learners were always excited for the visit from the foundation.
“The foundation has been very helpful over the years because we have learners who come from disadvantaged families,” said Pelo.
Teacher, Windsor Menyuko said school attendance had improved since the foundation started donating the towels.
The foundation has also organised other charity and sports events.
“We run support groups, computer literacy classes for matriculants, feeding scheme and we also donate school uniform and stationery to needy learners,” said Sebeko.
“We plead to the people of Ga-Rankuwa and business to continue to assist us, as this is an ongoing programme.”
