Valentine’s Day marks six years since beauty queen Reeva Steenkamp was killed in Silver Lakes, east of Pretoria.
Steenkamp was shot and killed on 14 February 2013 at the home of her then-boyfriend and Paralympian Oscar Pistorius.
Pistorius was convicted for her murder and is serving a 13-year sentence at the Atteridgeville correctional centre.

His defence was that he had mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder when he shot multiple times through the bathroom door.
He was first convicted of culpable homicide in 2014.
The Supreme Court of Appeal upgraded his conviction to murder in 2015 on appeal.
In 2017, the Pretoria High Court sentenced him to six years’ imprisonment which the Supreme Court of Appeal increased.
It is believed that Pistorius had turned into a spiritual leader behind bars by leading Bible studies and explaining verses to other inmates who “needed it”.
His father Henke Pistorius told The Times UK last year that Pistorius was finding new purpose by leading a Bible study and prayer group that converged once a week.

Rekord previously spoke to her mother, June Steenkamp, who said the family had adopted an annual tradition of visiting the Port Elizabeth beach to mark the day of her daughter’s killing.
Her ashes were scattered along the beach.
Social media continue to mourn the death of Steenkamp and messages of encouragement were sent to both families.
