A 23-year-old Mamelodi man has been nabbed for dealing in Cannabis, following a crime prevention operation in Menlo Park.
The operation was held on Wednesday at the post office and Spar in Menlo Park, said police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach.
She said on arrival the sector commander for the area Sergeant Greg Dodgen spotted a man who immediately picked up his bag and started to walk away.
“His action was suspicious and police officers decided to search the man.
“Inside his bag, they discovered numerous small packets of dagga. Due to the quantity of the dagga in his possession, it was clear to the police officers that the man was dealing in dagga. He was arrested.

“Dealing in dagga or Cannabis remains a serious criminal offence and has not been decriminalised.”
Weilbach said two men aged 33 and 44 were arrested at the same spot for illegal gambling. All suspects would appear in the Hatfield Community Court soon.
“Ongoing operations of this sort will continue throughout the year to ensure that community members feel safe in this area.”
Weilbach said that it had come to the attention of the Brooklyn SAPS that community members complained to the local ward councillor about informal car guards who were harassing motorists and pedestrians in this area.
“Community members are requested to open formal charges at the police station in this regard as this will enable the police to take the necessary steps against offenders.”
Menlo Park residents were further encouraged to get actively involved in their sector police forum which forms part of the Brooklyn CPF.
