The Pretoria district police have launched a manhunt for assailants who shot and killed a taxi owner.
Police spokesperson Captain Augistinah Selepe said the man was shot on Tuesday in Atteridgeville.
“It is alleged that the victim, aged 43, was shot and killed while sitting inside his vehicle, in front of the gate,” she said.
“It is further alleged that a Toyota Quantum stopped next to his car. Five men got out of that taxi and started shooting towards him.”
Selepe said the motive behind the shooting was still unknown but police were investigating a case of murder.
“We appeal to residents to assist the police with information to be able to succeed in apprehending the suspects,” she said.
