Swift reaction from the police has led to the arrest of two suspected cable thieves in the west of Pretoria.
Pretoria West police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma said the arrest happened on Thursday around 08:15 on the N1 highway in Lotus Gardens.
“Police acted swiftly after they received a complaint from a member of a community telephonically, about two suspects digging up cables in the rain,” she said.

Vuma said when the police questioned the suspects, one attempted to run away.
The police, however, managed to chase and apprehend him.
She said the two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested for attempted cable theft and were being detained at Pretoria West police station.
They will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
