A body of a 41-year-old woman was found buried in a shallow grave in a suitcase in Atteridgeville on Tuesday afternoon.
The body of the Chinese woman was found by the police on the corner of Schuwerburg Road and the R511, said police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe.
“It is alleged that the deceased was reported missing on Saturday at the Edenville police station,” he said.
The police were contacted by someone who had been tracking the victim’s vehicle for assistance.
“During the search, the body of a Chinese woman was found in the closed shallow grave inside a travelling suitcase with injuries in her upper body,” Chokoe said.
No arrest has been made, he added.

Chokoe said a case of murder was opened at the Atteridgeville police station for further police investigation.
He said the victim was identified.
“Police are pleading to anyone with information which might lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward and report to the police without any fear by contacting the police on 086-0010-111.”

This is the third body found in Atteridgeville this year.
In January, a body of a woman believed to be in her forties was found in a cemetery.
Police suspected that the victim was stabbed with a sharp object.
On 29 January, a decomposed body of a woman was found in a veld near a river in Gerotek Test Facilities.
