An animal shelter in the north has urged the people of Pretoria and surrounds to be on the lookout for goats and sheep that were stolen in the early hours of Thursday.
Animal Ambulance, a rescue shelter situated in the far north of Pretoria, next to the N1 at Petronella, have fallen victim to theft of their beloved animals that they have rescued and rehabilitated.
“The thieves were meticulous in their act. We’re very worried due to the fact that they managed to get past all alarms, cameras and other security measures that were all in working order. They moved through a bunch of trees, and with a hacksaw broke through the burglar bars, and lifted the animals onto their vehicle,” said worried volunteer at the shelter Janine Human.

After raising the alarm on social media, a potential eye witness contacted the shelter saying that she had seen a white Toyota bakkie with a trailer drive on the N1 south, just after Lynnwood Road.
“We’re hoping to make contact with the right people at Sanral today to see if we can get hold of camera footage from the e-tolls, to potentially identify the bakkie.
“At this time, all we can do is contact all auctioneers in the area, formal livestock sales organisations, but the chances of finding them like that are small. We desperately need everybody to be on the lookout to help us find our beloved animals,” Human said.
