Taxify vehicle set alight in Pretoria

“A vehicle from Taxify was allegedly set alight during the fracas.”

Pretoria Central police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after a Taxify vehicle was set alight in the CBD on Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the incident happened on the corner of Thabo Sehume and Scheiding streets.

“It is alleged that a meeting scheduled for this afternoon between Taxify and meter taxi operators did not materialise, whereafter meter taxi drivers are reported to have started throwing stones at Taxify drivers and their cars.

“A vehicle from Taxify was allegedly set alight during the fracas,” Selepe said.

No injuries were reported.

Police are appealing to anyone with information on the suspects to report it at their nearest police station or at Pretoria Central SAPS.
