Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 42-year-old woman whose body was discovered on Tuesday in Atteridgeville.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters applauded K9 dog hero Tyson, which was responsible for finding the body of the Edenvale resident in a shallow grave near the R511 Road.
“It can be confirmed that the deceased had been reported missing on Monday, 18 February 2019 at Edenvale SAPS,” Peters said.

“Through collaboration by police from Limpopo and Gauteng with Tracker, police were able to confirm that a partially burnt Mercedes-Benz found by Limpopo police in Jane Furse, belonged to the Edenvale woman.”
Peters said that Sergeant Reinier Henning of Pretoria K9 on Tuesday employed the services of search-and-rescue dog Tyson, which reacted positively to a spot in the veld.
“After some digging, the police found a travel suitcase,” he said.
“Further investigation by Tyson led to another positive reaction to the suitcase in which the body of the deceased was found.”

A post mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Peters said the motive was yet to be determined.
“Police are pleading to anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the police on 086-0010-111.”
