NEWSFLASH: Sunnyside woman ‘kills’ niece in hot water

It is believed the woman immersed her niece in hot water after a heated argument.

A woman was arrested for allegedly boiling her 17-year old niece to death in their flat in Sunnyside on Tuesday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said the 32-year-old woman was arrested shortly after reporting to the police that her niece had committed suicide.

It is believed that the two got into an argument, which led to the woman allegedly immersing her niece into a bath of hot water.

“Preliminary investigations led the detectives to believe the victim had suffered burn wounds to her upper and lower body,” he said.
