Nineteen people were arrested this past week in the Wonderboompoort policing precinct.
The arrests were made from last Monday to Monday this week, said police spokesperson Constable Mandlakayise Zwane.
“A number of operations and police visibility were undertaken to maintain law and order in and around the precinct,” Zwane said.
Two people were arrested for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm and three people were arrested for drinking in public and drunkenness.

Another two people were arrested for being in the possession of suspected stolen property and one person was arrested for a house break-in.
One suspect was arrested for trespassing and four pedestrians were arrested for being a source of danger.
Another was arrested for being in the possession of drugs and another was arrested for common assault.
A person was arrested for the theft of a motor vehicle and another person was arrested for malicious damage to property.
One person was arrested for theft out of a motor vehicle and another person for the violation of road traffic management act.

Zwane said the Wonderboompoort police have also noted a number of complaints of cell phones being snatched from schoolchildren.
“They are mostly targeting schoolchildren,” he said.
“We advise learners to avoid walking in the streets with their cellphones visible, as that could attract criminals or unwanted attention.”
He said walking and texting exposed one to all kinds of danger.
“Your attention will be on the phone and not on any criminals who may be lurking around.”
Zwane urged residents to report any form of criminal activity.
“We want to make sure Wonderboompoort is a safe environment for residents,” he said.
