UPDATE: Police still searching for east ‘dagga courier dealers’

The drugs valued around R50 000 were discovered in packages meant for delivery last week.

The police are still tracing the origin of marijuana found in packages at a courier company in the east of Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato said the packages in which drugs valued around R50 000 were found last week, were meant for delivery.

“We cannot implicate the people to whom the packages were meant to be delivered,” he said adding the address of origin was still to be traced.

“They would only be implicated if the drugs were found in their possession.”

Sepato said the quantity and the manner in which the marijuana was packaged suggested it was meant for distribution.

He said the police were on the alert as this might be a new method of distributing drugs and has urged companies to be vigilant.

If caught, the perpetrators will be charged with dealing in drugs.
