Six wanted for east robberies

An appeal is made to members of the public to assist the police to locate six persons who are wanted for questioning in connection with recent robberies.

Brooklyn police are working around the clock to arrest six suspects wanted for robbery cases.

Police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach appealed to members of the public to assist the police to locate the six suspects in these identikits. They are wanted for questioning in connection with recent robberies.

“In August last year, an 18-year-old student and her friend were robbed at an east shopping centre by two armed female suspects.

“The suspects took their cellphones and cash and fled in a white van.”

She said one of the suspects was about 30 years old, of big build and about 1.7m tall. She had a short afro hairstyle.

“The other one was about 25, with a medium-length pony tied at the back of her head and with spots in the face.

“She is of a slender build and is about 1.55m tall. Both of them spoke Tswana.”

In another robbery early one morning in January this year, a 45-year-old man was on his way to catch a taxi in Hatfield.

“Two unknown men approached him and started a conversation.

“One of the men was wearing a blue work suit and took out a firearm. The suspects robbed the man of his cellphone,” Weilbach said.

“The one wearing the work suit spoke English and appeared to be in his late thirties. He is about 1.65m tall and of medium build.

Also in January, a 30-year-old cyclist was robbed by three unknown men of his cellphone.

“They asked him for a lighter and then took out a knife and threatened him. One of them punched him in the face and they tried to pull him from his bicycle. The cyclist managed to escape.”

She said one of the suspects had a “skew right eye”, was in his forties, about 1.7m tall and of slender build.

“The other suspect was aggressive and of a medium-strong build. He had a very dark complexion and is in his late twenties. He was wearing a grey hat.

“In February this year, a 35-year-old man was walking from an east shopping centre during at night when two unknown men threatened him with a knife.

Weilbach said he was searched and his cellphone was taken before they ran away.

“One of the suspects was light in complexion, about 1.75m tall and of slender build. He was wearing a white cap.”
