The University of South Africa (Unisa) is warning students against cheating after examination question papers were leaked.
Unisa spokesperson Thomas Huma said the scheduled papers were to have been written during the May/June 2019 examination period.
“Unisa is aware of examination question papers that have been compromised.”
Huma said the matter was reported to the Commercial Crimes Investigation Unit.
“The unit will be embarking on an intensive investigation to establish where and how the examination question papers have been leaked,” he said.
“The university will also initiate a forensic audit of our processes in order to ensure that these are secure.”
He said students who were identified as having participated in the crime would be referred to the student disciplinary unit for investigation and disciplinary measures.
“Should a student be found guilty of contravening the student disciplinary code their module/s will be cancelled and marks will be withdrawn,” he said.
Huma encouraged students not to participate in such fraudulent activities that could hinder their futures.
