“We do not know what exactly led to the assault.”

An unknown man sustained head injuries when he was allegedly assaulted with a wheel spanner in Wierdabrug on Saturday.

“He sustained moderate injuries to the head,” Community Emergency Response Team spokesperson Ruan Heyns said.

The man was apparently found lying on the pavement by passers-by.

Heyns said the man was allegedly assaulted by a group of men who were at a local park.

“We do not know what exactly led to the assault,” he said.

Heyns added that the man was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.
