North ‘robbers’ nabbed after cop chase

“The driver lost control of the vehicle and drove into a brick wall”

Two alleged robbers were arrested by police in The Orchards, in the north of Pretoria, on Friday.

“Members were conducting patrols around Akasia when they received information which led to the arrest of two suspects who had allegedly committed house breaking,” Tshwane flying squad spokesperson Constable Buhle Rahatji said.

The two men were reportedly driving in a Volkswagen Polo hatchback.

“The members then patrolled around the area for the car and eventually spotted it next to a supermarket in The Orchards,” Rahatji said.

She said the driver crashed the vehicle when he attempted to evade the police as they gave chase.

“The driver lost control and drove into a brick wall at the corner of Railway and Mopani Ave,” Rahatji said.

“A plasma TV was recovered in the car.”

The two suspects,  aged 32 and 33, are set to appear in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
