Cable theft leaves parts of the north without power

The power supply is expected to be restored in the evening.

Parts of Soshanguve have been left without power after three main feeder cables were stolen from three substations in the early hours of Wednesday.

“Only Soshanguve Blocks W, S, R, X, X-Buffer, KK, T, V, Tswaing, Y and P are affected,” Tshwane metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said.

He said plans were underway to restore power to the affected areas.

“It is estimated that power supply will be restored around 22:00.

“The city apologises for the inconvenience arising from these despicable acts if criminality,” he said.

Mashigo advised residents affected by the power failures to report them to the metro so they could establish the extent of the outage.

“Customers should report at customer care centres on 012-358-9999 or SMS the word “power” to 44676.”
