Cops raid east houses; net drugs, ammo

Police raided two suspected drug dens in the east of Pretoria on Friday.

Police raided two suspected drug dens in the east of Pretoria on Friday.

In the first raid, the K-9 unit executed a search warrant at a house in the Faerie Glen area.

“When police arrived at the house, the officers found two adults and three children,” said Tshwane metro police spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

“The house was then searched and the officers discovered that dagga was manufactured and sold in the house. Dagga plants and dagga in zip lock bags were found. A homemade firearm was also found,” Mahamba said.

He said in the children’s bedroom, THC lollies, sweets, fudge and space cakes were found.

Mahamba said two males and females were arrested for manufacturing and dealing in dagga.

“The children were taken to a place of safety.”

“Officers obtained another search warrant and headed to the house. Two suspects were found in the house. After searching the house, it was clear to the officers that drugs were manufactured in the house according to the evidence found.”

He said the police found drug-manufacturing equipment, and drugs such as crystal meth, crack cocaine, dagga and dagga plants.

“They also found four rifles and ammunition. Cash to the amount of R15 800 was confiscated. The two suspects were arrested for manufacturing and dealing in drugs.”
