Centurion family fest kicks off soon

The NG Wierdapark-South annual family festival kicks off next Saturday.

A family festival at a church in Centurion was set to kick off soon.

The NG Wierdapark-South annual family festival would kick off on 24 August in Wierdapark.

“Our goal is to bring families, friends and the community together for a wonderful day of fun and entertainment,” said Kim Grobbelaar of the church.

She said the festival had evolved over the past 12 years.

“It started as the Spring Festival and later the Spring Makiti and eventually what it is today, taking on the name Family Festival,” she said.

Grobbelaar said the theme for this year would be “our youth, our future”.

“The theme focuses on the fact that youth in South Africa has an important role to play,” she said. “Everything is about empowering and raising our youth to make tomorrow look better.”

She said they would also have local choirs and the Walter Sisulu Primary School in Olievenhoutbosch performing.

“Each year the theme changes in the direction we want to send the festival for that year,” she said.

“Every year’s theme is aimed at the community of Centurion.”

Grobbelaar said many things had stood out for her about the festival over the years.

“The togetherness of the people, the vibe and of course the food,” she said.

“Many others who attended the festival will tell you that the church pastors are the winner.”
