A 14-year-old boy has been released into his parent’s custody after he was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death on Friday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the boy had witnessed his mother being assaulted by her boyfriend, which was what led to the alleged stabbing.
“The youngster then allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the man in the upper body,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini said the man later died at Stinkwater clinic in Temba.

He said the 14-year-old boy was arrested but later released into his parents’ custody.
“Although this boy must be responsible for his actions, he also became a victim when he saw violence perpetrated against his mother,” he said.
Dlamini appealed to residents to immediately report domestic violence to the police.
