Pretoria local launches project to protect women
She wants to supply women in Tshwane with free pepper spray as part of the fight against woman abuse.

A Moot teenager has come up with a novel way to celebrate her 19th birthday.
She wants to supply women in Tshwane with free pepper spray as part of the fight against woman abuse.
“This idea came following the heart-wrenching murder of Uyinene Mrwetyana, Jesse Hess and Leighandre Jegels – to name just a few,” said Caelyn Fisher (18) from Eersterust.
Her project wants to give pepper spray to women in Pretoria, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
“I was in bed one morning when I saw all of these terrible things happening around us. I literally started crying and decided that enough is enough.”
Her “Am I Next” campaign will launch this Saturday in Hatfield, on her 19th birthday.
“I just feel that it would not be right to celebrate my birthday while all of these bad things were happening around me,” she said.
“So I just decided to do something about it – not knowing if it would even go far, if I would receive the necessary support and what to expect.”

Since the start of the campaign last month, Fisher has managed to collect 1 500 pepper spray canisters.
“I started asking around and the response was just overwhelming,” she said.
“The company that I work for, Forex Kings, also sponsored R20 000 towards the project.”
During the launch, Fisher would also hand out pepper sprays with motivational quotes written on them.
However, her campaign does not end here.
“On Monday, I was invited to the University of Johannesburg to hand out pepper sprays. At the end of October, I will go to Port Elizabeth. In November, I will go to Durban,” she said.
Fisher said she grew up in Eersterust.
Anyone who wanted to help, even if it was to help pray, was welcome to contact Fisher.
