ANC court bid against Mosola decision struck off roll
Tshwane mayor was pleased with the Pretoria high court's decision on Thursday, to strike off the roll an urgent application to reverse the “golden handshake" advanced to former city manager Dr Moeketsi Mosola.

Tshwane mayor was pleased with the Pretoria high court’s decision on Thursday, to strike off the roll an urgent application to reverse the “golden handshake” advanced to former city manager Dr Moeketsi Mosola.
The application was made last month, alleging that the city had improperly executed the “golden handshake” with Mosola.
ANC Tshwane chairperson Dr Kgosi Maepa alleged that the decision to pay Mosola was unilateral by the mayor Stevens Mokgalapa.
“The decision to pay Dr Moeketsi Mosola was without council approval and a resolution,” Maepa said.
Maepa alleged Mosola was paid close to R9 million.
The court struck the ANC application off the roll as the judge decided that there was “no urgency” in the matter and that the application be placed onto a normal roll.

“If the roll is fast, the matter will be heard in February 2020. So the DA mayor is not yet off the hook,” said Maepa.
Mokgalapa praised the judge’s decision in a statement.
“I am pleased that the Pretoria high court has poured cold water over the spurious urgent application by the ANC against the DA-led administration,” said Mokgalapa.
He said in the application, the ANC claimed that urgent intervention was required based on its understanding of events that transpired in the city in recent months.
“The court saw through the ANC’s attempt to mislead the court and ruled that there existed no urgency in instances where the ANC were disgruntled about decisions that didn’t serve their interests. The court emphasised alternative recourse was at their disposal.”

Mokgalapa said it was through a combined effort, that the city had managed to dispel the vexatious allegations of improprieties and illegalities on the part of various officials concerned.
“It’s clear that the ANC has an appetite for petty politics. This sneaky about-turn on their part won’t change the fact that they supported the council decisions they now oppose,” he said.
Mokgalapa said he would not be deterred by the ANC’s “leadership deficiency” aimed at distracting his administration from the “important work that lay ahead”.
“As previously stated, I have placed the interests of residents as a priority in my efforts to stabilise this administration. The motivation behind this decision was in consideration of good governance and focusing on service delivery.”
