Laudium man caught with stolen car battery

Inside his bag, police found a motor vehicle battery and car breaking implements.

A 35-year-old man was arrested for possession of a suspected stolen car battery and car breaking implements in Laudium on Monday.

The police were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation around Laudium area, when a man was seen walking in Primrose Street carrying a bag, said police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe.

“He was then stopped and searched. Inside the bag, a motor vehicle battery and car breaking implements were found and the suspect couldn’t account for them.”

He was immediately arrested for possession of the suspected property, and car breaking implements.

Laudium police station commander Lieutenant-Colonel Johannes Britz applauded members for a job well done and encouraged the police to continue their good work.
