Round Table Theatre turns 45 this year
“The shows are provided by ordinary citizens offering up their free time to entertain the public.”
The Round Table Theatre is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.
Previously known as the Gaiety Theatre, the entertainment venue has spent nearly half a decade, providing high quality comedic shows to the public, according to Pretoria Round Table’s Ernest Lamprecht.
“The shows are provided by ordinary citizens offering up their free time to entertain the public,” Lambrecht said.
“Our members have been practising every Monday and Tuesday evening, since August.
“Even more sessions are completed as the show dates approach.”
Lambrecht said, given the ages of the actors being between 18 and 40, it was not strange to see small children and babies playing around while mom and dad passionately carried out their performances.
“This is the heart of the South African Round Table organisation,” said Lambrecht.
“We know there is a need in our community, who the needy are doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are able to help and that is what’s important.
“As the actors perform on stage, a magnitude of tasks are performed off stage as well including videos, sound, lighting as well as the serving of drinks and refreshments.”
Lambrecht said the show and project as a whole was of the highest quality with the goal of getting onlookers to laugh until they cried.
The Round Table Theatre is performing at the Sax Arena at Southdowns College, Centurion, on 25 and 26 October as well as 1 and 2 November.
“Please note, as the comedy and humour is often targeted at a more mature audience, persons under the age of 18 will not be able to attend.”
Tickets are on sale at www.rtt.org.za.
Following the performances fundraising will be held for charity.
