Alleged robber shot dead in the north
The first suspect got out the car and fled the scene, the second one was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and the third suspect was certified dead on the scene.
An alleged would-be robber was shot dead and his accomplice injured, when a shootout ensued between them and the police in the Orchards.
The shootout took place on Tuesday evening after police received information about three people who had intentions of robbing a mini supermarket in Besembos Street, police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said.
“Police noticed a white Nissan NP200 without a number plate in the vicinity and followed the car,” he said.
“It is alleged that after realising that the police were monitoring them, the suspects started to shoot at the police and a shootout ensued.”
He said the would-be robbers’ vehicle came to a halt and one suspect ran away.
The second suspect was injured and taken to hospital with gunshot wounds while the third suspect was certified dead on the scene.
“None of the police officers sustained injuries. The investigation continues.”
