Motor manufacturing plant quashes Covid-19 related reports

"The compliance and health of our associates are of the utmost importance."

Strict measures were implemented at the BMW manufacturing plant in Rosslyn, north of Pretoria, to prevent and curb the possible spread of Covid-19. This after allegations that the motor manufacturing giant allowed its staff to work albeit testing positive.

“We have implemented strict measures to secure the health and safety of our associates,” company spokesperson Diederik Reitsma said.

“The compliance and health of our associates are of the utmost importance.”

Reitsma said all of their associates were screened daily upon arrival at the plant.

“When the screening picks up any deviation, our doctors and medical staff intervene,” he said.

Reitsma further stated that ‘no one’ entered their premises without passing their daily health test first. The group confirmed its plans to resume production of the BMW X3 at the plant in May after a shutdown in March. On 19 March, the group’s former spokesperson Alexander Parker said they would start shutting down production of their vehicles in the Rosslyn and Europe plant by the end of the week when the initial shutdown was expected to last until 19 April.
