Various people arrested in north police operation

“While doing stop-and-search and patrols, seven people were arrested for drinking liquor in public and were also issued with fines.”

Themba police, Tshwane Metro Police Department and Gauteng Traffic Department focused on problematic areas around Temba to enforce Covid-19 regulations. 

Sergeant Herman Moremi said three people were arrested for dealing in liquor around Stinkwater and that all the liquor that was seized would be destroyed.

He added that a scrap yard was closed and the owner fined R500 for trading without a licence.

“While doing stop-and-search and patrols, seven people were arrested for drinking liquor in public and were also issued with fines.”

Moremi said 41 traffic fines were issued to the value of R14 750.

“More than 130 vehicles and 25 houses were searched during the operation.”

Moremi said all the suspects that were arrested appeared in the Moretele magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
