Olievenhoutbosch shallow grave murder-accused, appears in court

Selani is accused of murdering her husband by suffocating and poisoning him, as well as the murders of her boyfriend and eldest son.

The woman accused of murdering three people and burying them in a shallow grave in Olievenhoutbosch appeared in court again on Tuesday.

This after Pamela Selani previously appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Friday, facing three counts of murder.

Selani is accused of murdering her husband by suffocating and poisoning him, as well as the murders of her boyfriend and eldest son.

The eldest son was reportedly beaten to death with a hammer.

On Friday, Selani was remanded in custody until Tuesday’s appearance.

Her lawyer told the court they were planning to bring a formal bail application during the next court appearance.

All three bodies were found buried in a shallow grave at a house in Olievenhoutbosch extension 26 last week.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters last week said that a 17-year-old teenage boy, reportedly Selani’s son, who took part in the crimes had confessed.

Police investigations started last Tuesday after they received a tip-off from the community about the buried bodies.

A community member, Kgomotso Khalusi, told Rekord she received a call from a local sangoma whom the boy had allegedly confessed to.

“He then told us about the murder and burial of the people in the yard,” said Khalusi.

“He told us three people were buried in the yard.

“One was the 70-year-old man, who was his mother’s boyfriend; the second was the mother’s lover, who helped her kill the boyfriend; and the third was the teenager’s brother, who wanted to tell police of the murder.”

Speaking to Rekord after Friday’s court proceedings, Selani’s family said they were shocked by the allegations.

Selani’s sister, Thobeka Sopam, said she had requested the remains of her nephew be send to them in the Eastern Cape where the family currently resides.
