Supersport United youngster promoted to first team
The young midfielder admitted that it would be a challenge to play with the "big boys".
SuperSport United have promoted 20-year-old Gape Moralo to train with the first team ahead of the Premier Soccer League return.
Moralo joined the SuperSport development academy two years ago, from the School of Excellence that is based in Elandsfontein, Kempton Park.
He has since featured for the Pretoria side’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team.
“When I joined Supersport United I first played for the u.19 side and later on during the year, the MDC team. At u.19, I was coached by Tumi and Kopo, and in MDC it was coach Godfrey and coach Nico Labohm,” he said on Supersport United’s website.
Moralo said his first opportunity to train with Supersport’s first-team arose in February, but was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I was invited to train with the first team early in February this year, after our MDC game against Orlando Pirates. I think I did well in that game hence I was given the opportunity to train with the first team.”
He will now compete for a position in the midfield with Sipho Mbule and Jamie Webber.
“The two of them have been with the first team longer than me and they are obviously more experienced than I am,” he said.
The young midfielder admitted that it would be a challenge to play with the “big boys”.
“I haven’t had a chance with the PSL, but I’m definitely sure the standard is very much higher compared to the MDC. This I can tell when I train with the first team.
“I learn a lot from a lot of senior and younger players. Players such as Mbule, Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana, Teboho Moloi always encourage me to put a lot of effort into my work so that I can succeed. They also give me advice and show me where I can improve my game. I really appreciate their support,” he said
