Cop digs into pockets, assists less fortunate
Four families were understood to have thus far benefited from the officer's food parcel initiative.
Appreciation was shown for a police officer in Refilwe, east of Pretoria, who was digging into his own pocket and assisting less-fortunate members of the community with food parcels.
Cullinan police spokesperson Constable Connie Moganedi commended Sergeant Makgalong Lucas Mashigoana for going the extra mile and putting food parcels together for those who were struggling to make ends meet in his policing precinct.

Mashigoana said he was moved to start the initiative when he came across several disadvantaged families which could not afford groceries or go to work while performing his duties in the area.
For him, being a parent, to see other children go hungry made him feel obliged to share the “little” he had with the community he served.
Four families in the community were said to have thus far benefited from Mashigoana’s initiative.
