Foundation keeps promise, donates more food parcels

“The residents also got a chance to choose clothes that we have collected for them."

Food parcels were donated to 80 Mamelodi flood victims recently.

The donations were made by the Give Glory to God foundation.

The foundation made good on its promise of going back to the Mamelodi flood victims in Mooiplaas with food parcels.

Rhodah Mashaba from the foundation said the donation was part of the Heritage Day celebrations.

“We spent half of the day on Heritage Day with the flood victims and managed to give food parcels to about 80 family representatives,” said Mashaba.

“The residents also got a chance to choose clothes that we have collected for them,” said Mashaba.

Residents of Mooiplaas said they were excited and said the donations came at a time they needed them most.

Mashaba said the residents were pleased to see them again and thanked them for keeping their promise.

Shocky Makofane, one of the residents, said the visit was just in the nick of time.

Mafokane encouraged the foundation to continue working and serving the different communities.

“On our way back we passed by Share Tears and Grow Place of Safety in Nellmapius, founded by Jacobeth Joggy Maidi.

“We were able to drop off a few food parcels and also spent time with the children. They sang for us,” said Mashaba.

The Give Glory to God foundation is a non-profit organisation which was founded in January 2017, by Leoba Mashaba in memory of her son who passed away in September 2016.

“Named after her late son, Thapiwa Mashaba, who always said when he gave people things, ‘Don’t thank me, give glory to God!’, said Rhodah.

The foundation has visited various places such as orphanages, community centres and less fortunate communities to donate clothes and or food.

Anyone who wishes to assist the foundation with outreach programs or upcoming programmes can contact the Rhodah Mashaba via facebook page @GG2G foundation and our website https://gg2gfoundation.org.za/.
