Suspected armed robber killed in Erasmia supermarket

The man and his accomplices, all armed, allegedly entered a supermarket and held customers and staff at gunpoint, taking an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones.

An armed suspect was shot and killed during a robbery at a supermarket in Erasmia on Saturday.

It was alleged that the man and his accomplices, all armed, entered the supermarket on the M26 road near Main Road in Erasmia and held customers and staff at gunpoint, taking an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones.

“In the process, the owners allegedly managed to shoot and kill one suspect and three others managed to flee in a white Toyota Camry with unknown registration,” said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

“Police seized an unlicensed firearm. A manhunt is launched for the remaining suspects.”

Moloto appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact their nearest police stations or contact crime stop number 08600-10111.

A case of business robbery was being investigated.
