Lyttelton police issues warning about low-water bridges
Warning comes after a person was left stranded in his vehicle on Monday evening after heavy rains.
Lyttelton police have urged Centurion residents to be cautious when using low-water bridges in the area. This comes warning comes after a person was stuck in his vehicle due to heavy rains that left parts of Gauteng swamped on Monday evening.
The person had to be rescued after his vehicle got stuck at the notorious End and Rabie streets low-water bridge, said police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
“Police tried to rescue him but could not due to not having the appropriate equipment.”
“The fire department was then called out and managed to safely rescue the man before reuniting him with his family,” he said.

Lyttelton station commander Brigadier TP Mathlala thanked all of the police officers involved in the rescue.
“We would also like to thank all the members of the CPF, security companies, towing companies and emergency services,” Mathlala said. SA Weather Service said there was a 30% chance of rain in Pretoria on Tuesday.
