Five nabbed with hijacked vehicle, drugs in the west

One of the men was wanted for the hijacking of a NP200 bakkie earlier this week, and the other for theft out of a motor vehicle.

Five people were arrested for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and drugs in the west of Pretoria on Sunday morning.

“Our reaction officers received a lookout notification for a white Toyota Avanza and five suspicious men ‘scouting the area’,” said Brinant security spokesperson Eric Becker.

“After a brief chase, they successfully pulled the vehicle over and instructed the men to get out and step away from it.”

Becker said police joined the operation and made five arrests.

“One of the men was wanted for the hijacking of a NP200 bakkie earlier this week, and the other for theft out of a motor vehicle.”

He said a 9mm Glock replica firearm was seized as well as various illegal substances.

“We are proud of our response officers’ vigilance as well as willingness to go the extra mile,” said Becker. The five were detained at the Hercules police station.
