Driver hurt after crashing into pole in Centurion

A man was seriously injured after the car he was driving smashed into an electricity pole in Wierda Park on Sunday evening.

The crash happened on Saxby and Ruimte roads.

“The car caught fire, but luckily bystanders could extinguish the fire,” said Rufus Engelbrecht of Emer-G-med.

He said the man suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

The cause of the crash was unknown.
