March of prayer held at Unitas hospital
People were excited to pay tribute to hospital workers during the Joshua March last week.
On Thursday, 21 January 2021, a group of people congregated outside Netcare Unitas hospital to bless the hospital and its staff members for all their hard work and dedication during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chaplain Joyce Jacobs from Trauma Centurion, a support group for people in Centurion, and Unita In Deum ministry said the event, called Joshua March, focused not only on the good deeds of people who are frontline workers during the pandemic but also honours the promises people made to God in this new year.
“Joshua March” comes from a reference in the Bible, in Joshua 6.
In the Bible it describes how Israel conquers Jericho by following God’s command to march around the city seven times.
Roughly 80 people attended, with all giving a minute of silence to the five Netcare 911 employees who passed away in a helicopter crash last week. The walk officially started at 18:30, with some people staying afterward for praise and worship.

“The people who attended, completed the walk seven times around the hospital, singing, praising, all in the name of God. We paid tribute to all frontline workers and people who put their lives at risk to save others,” said Jacobs.
Emergency personnel from various companies, as well as Dare to Love, where all in attendance.
“The atmosphere was incredible. So many frontline workers had tears in their eyes when they exited the hospital. Although we tried to stand far from each other for social distancing purposes, we were all very close to each other in spirit, praying and praising all for a common cause.
“Prayers were requested for doctors, patients and their families, as well as cleaners, general workers, security workers and management, all the people who work in hospitals.
“During this testing time, it can’t be any clearer that people need to come back to God. It’s time for believers to come together and stand up for God, so that His presence surrounds us so that it heals our nation and our people.
“It was a wonderful day in Centurion. When we consecrate our hospitals to Jesus, He seals it under His protection, His healing and blessing,” she concluded.
