Tshwane sees another drop in Covid-19 cases

According to the Department of Health’s Covid-19 report, active cases have dropped to 7 641 as of Sunday.

The Tshwane metro has recorded another weekly drop of over 2 000 active Covid-19 cases.

According to the Department of Health’s Covid-19 report, active cases had dropped to 7 641 as of Sunday, August 1.

“This represents another significant week-on-week decrease in active cases for Tshwane,” said mayor Randal Williams.

“In the previous week, the number of active Covid-19 cases stood at 10 470. New confirmed daily cases are also steadily decreasing.”

Williams said the decrease was encouraging but warned residents to remain vigilant and adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols such as wearing masks and sanitising regularly.

“I also want to encourage all qualifying residents to register to vaccinate,” he said.

“We have a professional team of healthcare workers ready to assist to vaccinate qualifying residents.”

The Tshwane metro has 38 public vaccination sites spread across all its seven regions to improve accessibility for all qualifying residents.
