A team consisted of six members. Teams were divided into groups where each group had the opportunity to take each other on in the battlefield.
Organisers of the event, Union Specific’s spokesperson, Priscilla Smith said that the purpose of the event was to thank members to kept communities safe, “but also just to have some fun”.
“Security officers spend a lot of time away from home and their families, and at the end of the day, and while their role in the community does not go unnoticed, it is sometimes overlooked.
“We want to thank each and every officer for working hand-in-hand with the police as well as the various CPF members for our community,” she said.
Team Bull placed second, also receiving prize money of R5 000. The team members of Bakie Takies came third, winning R2 000.

Each participating officer received a medal. Smith said that it was also a day where teams got to know each other outside of work.

“We are planning to make this an annual event, and mark my words – next year will be even bigger and better than this year.
“This day would, however, not have been possible without our sponsors, Deon Swanepoel from Halo Technologies, SPAR Mall @ R55, Emergency Medical Solutions, owner of the venue, Reginald Houton, Brothers in Arm, Burg & co, Yolandé van der Westhuizen audiology and Innovation Connecting Enterprise,” she said.

Swanepoel congratulated his team members for standing together as one to fight crime.
“We stood together as a team and it was a great day for the guys to do something besides their daily routine. We had a blast,” he said.
