Life Wilgers hospital voted best hospital in Pretoria
The Rekord annually opens a competition for Pretoria residents to vote for some of their best businesses and in this year’s health service category, the Life Wilgers took the first spot.

For a second-time in a row, the Life Wilgers hospital has been voted the best hospital in Pretoria in the Best of Pretoria’s Choice Awards 2021.

The Rekord annually opens a competition for Pretoria residents to vote for some of their best businesses, and in this year’s health service category, the Life Wilgers took the first spot.

It is without a doubt that the health industry became the focal point for many people since the outbreak of the coronavirus in March 2020. The outbreak at times led to hospitals bursting at their seams with sickly patients who sought better health as fatalities due to Covid-19 mounted.
With more than 30 years operating in the Capital City the hospital weathered the storm.
Life Wilgers, based in the east of Pretoria, is one of the largest hospitals under the Life Healthcare Group, with 360 beds.
The hospital has a modern and sophisticated facility including a 24-hour emergency unit with three dedicated intensive-care units (ICU), a neonatal ICU as well as a paediatric ICU and a helicopter landing pad.
The facility has 17 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a state-of-the-art catheterisation lab and specialised cardiac and neuro theatres.
The hospital management shed some light to what makes them one of the best health care facilities, by saying they “strive for dedication to the well-being and quality of life, clinical excellence in world-class facilities, quality service, respect and a spirit of giving to their patients”.
“Our purpose is making life better. And we fulfil that purpose by means of our compassionate and patient-centric approach,” said the hospital management.
“We improve the lives of people by means of the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care. We are always striving to do our best, and a good sign of our performance is our patient satisfaction, and our care is infused with layers of compassion, enabling us to grow.”
The hospital promised to continue to deliver high quality, cost-effective care that meets the needs of our community.
“We aim to leave a lasting impression of understanding, of meeting patients’ needs, and really listening to them.”
