Three injured, bus, truck set alight as violent protest erupts in Soshanguve
“A bus belonging to a security company that is alleged to be conducting the eviction was burnt down.”

Three people were injured in a violent protest that erupted in Soshanguve extension 6 on Tuesday morning.
The residents started protesting after their houses were demolished on Tuesday morning.
Some residents said that they would not allow anyone to demolish the houses that they have worked hard to build.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said she spend at least R250 000 to build in the area.
Akasia police spokesperson Constable Lindiwe Mdluli said an eviction order was granted by the court to remove shacks that were erected unlawfully next to the railway.

Mdluli said a Mercedes Benz that was parked next to the bus was also burnt down, injuring a man who was inside.
“The man was attended to by the emergency services and was later taken to hospital.”
When Rekord visited the area on Tuesday, some houses were already demolished. Residents were seen collecting their furniture and other belongings near the houses that had been demolished.

Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said a fire truck was dispatched to the incident and on arrival found a truck and a light motor vehicle on fire.
Mabaso said a male patient who suffered third-degree burns was taken to Steve Biko academic hospital and another man who was allegedly assaulted by protesters was taken by ambulance to Dr George Mukhari hospital in Ga-Rankuwa.
“It was later reported that a bus and another light motor vehicle were also set alight when the fire truck was on the way to refill water. A backup fire truck was then dispatched to the incident,” Mabaso said.
