Search on for missing man in Roodeplaat dam after boat capsises
“Rescuers found a piece of that small boat yesterday hence the search continued until today."
The search continued on Monday for a man who went missing in the Roodeplaat dam over the weekend, the Tshwane emergency services department said.
The man has since been identified as Christo Fritz.
Fritz’s mother-in-law, Debbie Terry, said Fritz and another man took a boat out to the dam on Saturday afternoon to test the engine.
“They went at around 16:00,” she said.

Terry said when the two men got close to the dam wall, the boat’s engine stopped working and lost power, and the boat went over the dam wall.
“One man survived while the search for the second man [Fritz] continues,” Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said.
“It is unclear what caused the boat to capsize,” he said.
“It could have been rising water levels.”
Rescuers found a piece of the boat yesterday.
At the weekend, emergency services responded to multiple flooding incidents as a result of thundershowers in various parts of Tshwane.
According to Mabaso, the SA Weather Service reported 100-160mm of rain in parts of Tshwane.
