SuperSport United welcomes new left-back

“Marcelo,” as he is affectionately called by his teammates, will definitely add value to Matsatsantsa in the second half of the season.

SuperSport United have welcomed the signing of talented left-back Sifiso “Marcelo” Ngobeni from Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Marcelo”, as he is affectionately called by his teammates and colleagues in the DStv Premiership, will definitely add value to Matsatsantsa in the second half of the season.

Ngobeni made his mark in the now-defunct Free State province-based Premier Soccer League outfit Bloemfontein Celtic FC.

Since his arrival, Ngobeni said he was welcomed with opened arms.

“I’m really happy about joining a team like SuperSport. It is a team with a rich history in South African football. Since my arrival, I was welcomed with opened arms by the players and technical team. They have definitely made me feel at home,” he said.

Ngobeni said his aim was to help the Pretoria side win the Nedbank Cup and also finish the league in a respectable position.

“I really want to meet the team’s goals, and most of all the vision of the club. I will certainly continue where I left off because I have been working hard behind the scenes. I also believe and know what I can do. It won’t be easy though, but I know I can do it again.”

Ngobeni will be competing for a position with veteran left-back Onismor Bhasera.

“Bhasera is a player who I watched play football while I was growing up and wishing to be a professional player. I will be learning a lot from him with my stay at the team,” he said.

He hoped to make Matsatsantsa supporters proud and win a piece of silverware.

Besides Ngobeni, United also confirmed the signings of Bafana Bafana defender Sifiso Ngobeni and Bangaly Soumahoro on loan until the end of the season.

SuperSport United are in action this Wednesday as they take on Maritzburg United in round of 32 of the Nedbank Cup.

The two teams will again face off a week later in the DStv Premiership.
