Local NPO feeds 236 people in Eersterust
The NPO realised that unemployment and poverty are real issues in the Eersterust community and they plan to help where they can.
A local NPO managed to feed 263 people in Highlands Park, Eersterust on Saturday, April 23.
“We realised that unemployment and poverty are real issues in the Eersterust community and we plan to help where we can,” said Sheldon Morgan, the founder of Service in Motion (SIM).
“We provide warm tasty meals to residents and we aim to make them feel appreciated again because we believe that sharing a meal is a good way of giving someone hope,” he said.
He added that SIM exists to serve, share and fulfil the personal needs of people who are unable to meet those needs on their own.

Morgan said the NPO doesn’t have big sponsors or companies that donate large amounts of money and is run by friends of his and other members as well as volunteers.
“The only funding we have is from family and friends who donate to make the feeding possible.
“Their generosity helps us pool the funds to feed others and we appreciate blessings in any form,” he said.
Residents of Eersterust took to social media to thank SIM for helping numerous people with basic needs.
“In the near future, we want to continue feeding people and also look into starting a programme with elderly people in old-age homes.
“We hope that very soon we do this each month,” he said.
