13 hours to rescue kitten from drainage pipe
“The kitten was stuck in the drainage pipe since the previous afternoon."
It took an emergency team 13 hours to find and rescue a kitten from a drainage pipe in Die Hoewes, Centurion yesterday.
“The kitten was stuck in the drainage pipe since the previous afternoon,” said Community Emergency Response Team (Cert-SA) spokesperson Ruan Heyns.
Heyns said they received a call for help at 07:45 but the kitten was only rescued after a 13-hour rescue mission.
He said the kitten was found cold and dehydrated.

“The kitten was provided with water and food before being taken to the veterinarian for further medical assessment and care,” he said.
Heyns said that Cert-SA is a non-profit and public beneficiary organisation that is solely reliant on donations to keep on providing services to the community, free of charge.
Heyns pleaded with community members to make donations to Cert-SA on its website at www.certsa.org.
