AfriForum cleans up Centurion parks
The park was in such a state that it took the team three days to remove all the litter and trim the grass to make the park usable again.
The team at AfriForum Centurion cleaned and trimmed the grass at Centurion parks last week in preparation for the upcoming MiWay Wally Hayward marathon.
Their primary focus was on the Montaque Kneen-park, which is one of the largest and most frequented parks in the area.
“Our gardening team worked hard for the entire three days to clean this park,” said AfriForum member Andre de Bruyn.
“We want to say how grateful we are for the Centurion community who bought brand new bakkies and trailers for us.
“The community also chipped in and together they were able to fill 250 bags of litter.”
De Bruyn invited more residents to join them.
“Kindly join us so we can enlarge our team to make an even bigger impact in keeping our neighbourhoods clean,” he said.
De Bruyn was shocked when he saw the state of the park.
The park was in such a state that it took the team three days to remove all the litter and trim the grass to make the park usable again.
“Centurion is a complete mess with illegal landfills and recycling points on both private- and state-owned land.
“Unhygienic conditions prevail along our fences, in our parks, streams and open areas,” he said.
He added that AfriForum planned more projects in the future to keep Centurion clean.
