Five-car collision claims a life in the west of Pretoria
“A first accident, involving three cars, was followed by a secondary accident in which two other cars were involved."
One person was declared dead on Sunday morning in an accident involving five motor vehicles near the Daspoort Tunnel in Pretoria West.
Best Care Emergency Service paramedic Carla Botha said they attended a multiple motor vehicle accident at around 04:00.
“A first accident, involving three cars, was followed by a secondary accident in which two other cars were involved,” she said.
Botha said three patients were injured. One refused medical care. Another had minor scratches to the face and arm and the third sustained serious injuries.
Best Care said it treated and transported one critically injured patient to a nearby hospital.

“Various other patients were treated and transported by other emergency services.
“We wish a speedy recovery for all those involved.”
Botha said thoughts and prayers went out to the family of the deceased.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.
