Smash and grabs on the rise according to security company
“People need to be more vigilant, they are making themselves more vulnerable.”
Centurion-based security company, Monitor Net, urged motorists to be extra vigilant on the roads following an increase in smash-and-grabs in the area recently.
Monitor Net’s JP le Roux said there was also a marked increase in the theft of alarm beams in the early hours of the morning.
Many pedestrians and joggers have fallen victim to muggings in the area, according to Le Roux.
“People need to be more vigilant, they are making themselves more vulnerable,” he warned.
“Be more aware of the areas you choose to run in.”
He advised motorists to keep their car doors locked at all times with the windows closed and to keep any valuables out of sight.
“We want people to be vigilant and come to us or the police with any information.
“If you see a car driving around suspiciously in your area, take down the number plate and report it to the police or your security company,” said Le Roux.
