Tshwane scoops International Tourism Film Festival Award
The Tshwane metro was awarded for using technological innovation to improve service delivery for its residents.
The Tshwane metro scooped an award at the 2022 International Tourism Film Festival (ITFF) awards.
The metro won the innovation league award in the public sector category by presenting its various public sector projects and programmes that align with the metro’s innovation strategy, according to Tshwane mayor Randall Williams.
Williams said winning this award showed the amount of commitment the metro has put into sticking to this year’s State of the Capital address theme, which is “building a data-driven city to fast-track service delivery”.
“This recognition by the South African Innovation League also serves as a strong indication that there is space to use data, research and analytics in local government to improve service delivery by using opportunities provided by new technology and data solutions,” said Williams.
He added that the metro was invited to take part in this year’s Innovation League Awards, facing contenders such as the University of Pretoria, the Road Accident Fund (RAF) and many others.
The award ceremony aims to recognise organisations that are adapting to modern times by using innovation to reach their desired outcomes.
Williams said the metro wished to use innovation to ensure that service delivery is improved in Tshwane.
