Govt job-seekers don’t need to have documents certified anymore

Departments will now only request certified copies of documentation from shortlisted candidates.

People applying for jobs in both national and provincial government departments no longer need to have copies of their qualifications and other documents certified by the police anymore.

Previously, job seekers had to submit certified copies by SAPS of their qualifications, identity documents and driver’s licences, along with a completed Z83 form and a curriculum vitae.

Job applicants now only need to submit a completed Z83 form, copies of supporting documents and a detailed CV, according to the Department of Public Service and Administration.

“This decision was made to alleviate the administrative burden on human resource sections as well as the costs for applicants,” said Linda Dludla, the acting director-general of the Department of Public Service and Administration.

Departments will now only request certified copies of documentation from shortlisted candidates, who had to submit them to the human resources section on or before the day of a scheduled interview.

Dludla said job-seekers applying for advertised jobs in all national and provincial government departments still had to, however, complete all fields in parts A and B of the new Z83 form.

They are required to answer all areas and indicate not applicable on unnecessary sections rather than leave these sections blank.

“Applicants should complete all fields in full for both parts C and D.

“With regards to parts E, F and G, where there is limited space, applicants are allowed to indicate see attached CVs, as long as the CV is attached with all the required information.”

If the required information is not provided on the CV, the applicant may be disqualified.

“Applicants are accountable for the information provided therein. The questions related to conditions that prevent re-appointment in the public service space under part F must be answered; the declaration must also be completed and signed.”

Dludla said applicants who did not use the most recent Z83 form would be disqualified.
