EFF denies death threats against MMC
“Pointing a finger at me, he said ‘we are going to take you out’. This was in front of witnesses.”

The Tshwane EFF has denied allegations that its leader made a death threat against an MMC after the DA coalition opened a criminal case against EFF councillors on Tuesday.
According to corporate and shared services MMC Kingsley Wakelin, the coalition opened intimidation, assault, death threat and malicious property damage charges against EFF councillors.
The case was opened at the Brooklyn police station.
“Several EFF councillors intimidated and assaulted fellow councillors,” said Wakelin.
“They damaged metro property and brought chaos and disorder to the council.”
“We are used to the EFF’s antics; however, this total disregard for the rule of law and disrespect for other people stops today.”

Community safety MMC Grandi Theunissen said regional leader Obakeng Ramabodu made the death threat.
“Pointing a finger at me, he said ‘we are going to take you out’. This was in front of witnesses,” Theunissen said.
Theunissen said he had no doubt it was a death threat.
“It is not the first time this was said to me – even inside the council chambers,” he said.
Theusissen said EFF councillors blamed him for the shooting that left several protesters injured outside Tshwane House.
“There was an SAPS Brigadier outside with the police. I could have not made the call for them to shoot at protesters.”
Ramabodu denied that he or any EFF councillor made death threats against councillors from other political parties.
“We do not have any killers in the party. We don’t have any history of killing people,” Ramabodu said.
In a video, Freedom Front Plus Mark Surgeon was involved in a heated argument with EFF councillors when they tossed a table. Shouts of “voetsek” were screamed at Surgeon.
Ramabodu claimed the EFF councillors tossed the table because “two DA councillors and one from FFP [Surgeon] wanted to throw it at us.”
